Upcoming Public Meeting

On Monday, December 9, 2019, the VA will host an informational “scoping” meeting for the public to learn more about the proposed VA clinic and the potential impacts to our region that the federal government will study. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1060 Hospitality Lane in Fredericksburg.

What is this clinic?
The VA is interested in building an approximate 426,722 square foot outpatient clinic in the Frederiecksburg region. The map below shows the area of consideration. A specific location for the clinic has not been determined. Wherever it is placed, the clinic will provide services to an estimated 23,815 veteran enrollees by 2025 and 10,000 DoD enrollees.

Why does FAMPO care about the clinic?
FAMPO is closely following news of this proposed project because the new facility will likely have a significant impact on our region’s transportation system. FAMPO’s work involves creating short and long range transportation plans for the Fredericksburg region, therefore, FAMPO must be aware of any potential changes to our roads or traffic volume.

Can’t make it to the meeting?
The VA will provide more opportunities for public involvement in later stages of the process. You can also submit initial “scoping” comments by December 31, 2019. Email your comments to Glenn Elliott at  glenn.elliott@va.gov  using the subject line “Fredericksburg OPC Scoping”.
