Public Comment Opportunities!

FAMPO needs your help naming the 2055 Long Range Transportation Plan! Pulling from submissions sent over September, we chose five potential names for the new 2055 LRTP to put into the poll on the left. Vote for your favorite and send the poll to your friends!

Resolution 27-12 Directing a Public Comment Period for the 2055 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Fiscally Constrained Project Lists

Resolution 27-14 Directing a Public Comment Period for the 2055 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Additional Regional Needs Project List

The Constrained Long-Range Plan (CLRP) serves as the blueprint for transportation infrastructure investments in the FAMPO Region for the next 28 years. This CLRP, which is required to be updated at least every five years, includes only those projects and strategies that can be implemented over the planning period with funds that are “reasonably expected to be available.” You may view the summary presentation of both resolutions here.

The Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a fundamental document for our region. Not only does it outline our region’s long-range transportation vision, but it also lists all future projects that our region anticipates to undertake in the next 20 to 30 years.

MAP-21, the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, requires that each MPO develop an intermodal transportation plan with at least a 20-year horizon. The plan must be updated at least every four years to keep consistent with existing conditions, re-evaluate proposed plans, programs, and projects, and validate air quality conformity analysis due to the Fredericksburg Urbanized Area’s designation as a maintenance area for air quality. Now that the LRTP has been adopted, the projects included in the plan will be eligible to advance to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

As of March 28, 2022, FAMPO has adopted the 2050 LRTP.

Our planners are currently working hard to build the 2055 LRTP! Keep checking this page for updates.

2055 Long Range Transportation Plan

FAMPO conducted the Transportation Goals & Needs Survey from January 23 – March 17, 2026 to gather feedback on how the region should work toward achieving transportation goals. These survey results will help our planners prioritize transportation projects, identify problems in our transportation network, and improve our public outreach. To see the survey results, click here.
